Sony Playstation 4: Unveiled
To sum up Sony’s latest technological marvel all you need to know is that it costs $399 USD, it allows you to play pre-owned games, and it does not require a permanent internet connection to play games.
This is the next generation of gaming consoles and it’s a really big deal in the world of technology. New consoles come out from the big three companies (Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft) once every 5-8 years, this current generation being the longest wait.
The creation of a new console marks the start of a fresh yet familiar user interface in the world of Playstation 4. Some new convenient features available include; a dynamic learning system where the PS4 learns about your preferences letting you find content in your favorite genres or by your favorite game developers. This new UI also allows you to browse content your friends share such as games or movies they have played or watched.
Another handy innovation with the Ps4 is PlayGo, what this allows you to do is play a portion of a game while the rest of it downloads for PlayGo supported games. This is a godsend for those who can’t wait to play a game or if you have a slow internet connection, you can start playing after a certain percentage is done downloading instead of waiting.
However that isn’t the best part of the console either! There are many more innovative features such as the remote play capability which allows you to use a Playstation Vita handheld as a controller and screen, a Playstation App for iOS and Android phones and tablets to be used with the Ps4, and a market dedicated to supporting independent games!
As always with the announcement of a new console also comes innovations in the way of game controllers, such as the Dual Shock 4 pictured above.
Some new features in the Dual Shock 4 controller include; improved analog sticks and trigger buttons to have precise control over your games, a built-in touch pad which brings about new game play possibilities, Light bar with colored LEDs to quickly show useful information such as when your character is low on health, built-in speaker and headphone jack, as well as a share button which allows you to stream gameplay live to UStream or upload videos you’ve recorded onto Facebook.
